Wild Fae Absinthe
Absinthe is a distilled spirit that has been around since the 18th century and, like so many alcoholic beverages started out as medicine before being adopted for recreational purposes. It has a more colorful history than most spirits having been banned repeatedly in many countries throughout the world including in the United States until 2007. But even a classic like absinthe can come with a new twist, so for this project I created a whole new packaging scheme for a new brand of absinthe.
The Green Fairy
Absinthe has been known by many names, one of the most popular being The Green Fairy. Thus, I created this lovely little green fairy to use on the packaging. The name, Wild Fae Absinthe, comes from the fact that this absinthe is meant to be enjoyed in just that sort of place: the wild.
To give the packaging a vintage feel I found inspiration in apothecary labels from the late 18th century and early 19th century for both the text treatment used on the name Wild Fae and the decorative border that frames the label. I also chose more muted shades of green for the backgrounds of both the sell sheet and the box to give the packaging a more vintage appearance.

Absinthe needs to be prepared in a certain way to be enjoyed properly. This typically involves pouring water over a sugar cube that has been placed onto a special, slotted spoon that fits across the top of the glass. This makes absinthe less than portable under usual circumstances.
To solve this problem I created the Wild Fae Adventure Pack which includes everything you might need to enjoy the magic of Wild Fae no matter where you might be going: a forest hike, your weekly poker game, or curling up on the couch with a good book.
Included in the adventure pack is the Adventure Bottle containing Wild Fae Absinthe; a mesh basket that fits onto the top of the bottle; a sugar cube; a water pouch with a flow-controlling spout so water doesn't flow out too quickly; and a collectable, mystery fairy figurine to accompany you on your next great adventure. All of which is packaged in a compact, handled box.
